Our Story
Maine Clothing started as a small business in 2005 with a simple mission – to make high-quality, trendy clothing accessible to everyone. We recognized that most people want to look and feel their best but style shouldn’t come at the expense of comfort or budget.
Our founders, John and Mary Smith, bootstrapped the business from their home. Mary handled design and production while John managed sales and marketing. In the early days, they did everything themselves – from purchasing materials to fulfillment and customer service.
Through word of mouth, our customer base grew quickly. People loved the fit, feel, and look of our products. And they appreciated that we listened to their feedback to improve styles and sizing.
Within two years, we had outgrown the Smith’s house. We moved operations into a small warehouse and hired our first employees. Though we were expanding, our commitment to quality and service never wavered.
In 2010, we opened our first retail store. This allowed customers to see, touch, and try on our products in person. The immediate feedback we received helped us refine designs even further.
Over the next few years, Maine Clothing continued to grow rapidly. We expanded our product line to offer head-to-toe outfits. Our comfortable, flattering styles were soon being worn across the country.
By 2015, we had 5 retail stores and a thriving online business. Our clothes were now being manufactured in top factories around the world. Our operations spanned 3 continents with over 100 employees.
However, we never forgot why we started Maine Clothing in the first place. Though we’ve grown a lot, we remain committed to our core values – quality, comfort, affordability, and listening to our customers.
